end of day 2.

This afternoon/evening has been much harder for Levi, he keeps asking for me to hold him and it breaks my heart that I cannot and really don't know when I will be able too. When nurses are in the room he keeps asking that they go away and is very persistent about it and becomes more agitated so it's harder to keep him comfy.

He did get a Chocolate Bar today, and he was stoked about that, which makes a momma happy.

Dan and I are kinda burnt out tonight, I'll have more to share in the am. Still processing the discussion with the neurosurgeon this am. We just had some more family get in town so we'll have them to help with Kade.

thank you for your continual prayers,

~ Kara

  2. Hey Ryska family, we love you guys and are praying for you and Dr. Levy too!! Here is the verse that helped me get through my trials this year.
“He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
    Isaiah 40:29-31 (NLT)

    Praying for faith and strength.

  7. Kara and Dan, we will be praying for little Levi now and especially this Friday knowing that the surgeons are guided by the hand of God and easily able to remove the tumor. We are praying for a speedy recovery. Our heart goes out to you and you'll be in our prayers for comfort and security during this whole process. Love Lisa and Michael Winther

  9. Oh Kara- I can't really imagine what you are going through- must be beyond heartbreaking to not be able to scoop up that little guy and hold him all day long. We will pray today that he feels comfortable and that he finds a special place in his heart for those great nurses. Sweet little guy- thanks for posting the video. Praying for you all and sending lots of love.

  10. I heard a song last night for the first time w/ beautiful lyrics and wanted to share the chorus with you:

    I look to you.
    I look to you.
After all my strength is gone,
In you I can be strong
    I look to you.
    I look to you.
    And when melodies are gone,
In you I hear a song.
    I look to you.
(the whole song is on my FB profile if you want to listen)

I know you are looking to the Lord! And he is most definitely looking down on you. A co-worker of mine just shared a story with me today of some huge medical miracles that have taken place in the life of her grandson and it served to increase my faith even more of what we are going to see God do in and through Levi!

My heart breaks for you and not being able to hold him. I emphasize with you so much on that. It would break my heart, too.

Glad you guys are getting some family in town to help out! Praying for your little guy.

  14. Avila says: Levi, God loves you and he knows what you need. I promise I will give you a book, and your mamma will read it to you. Levi we know you are really sick. I hope you feel better. This is from me, Avila, saying it.

  16. Dan and Kara! I am most definitely praying for you all! I know how scary it is to be in the hospital with anything with your baby! The Lord definitely will hold you through it all. I've heard amazing things about Dr. Levy, that whole neurosurgeon team is great (we had Dr. Meltzer for Phoebe). Love, Andrea

  17. Hello Dan and Kara,

I don't know you but read your story through a link posted by your friend Adrianne. I'm so sorry for the nightmare that you are living right now.

I want to share a story of another boy who was a patient of Dr. Levy. 8 years ago my friend's son, Mark, was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a walnut on his brain stem. He is 22 years old today and made a complete recovery. Dr. Levy spent 8+ hours operating on him and saved his life. I remember sitting on the floor in the hallway near the OR just waiting and waiting. Dr. Levy is a world renowned surgeon. You are indeed in the care of the best! I just spoke with Mark's dad to tell him about Levi. He asked me to pass on a message to you... The hours, days, and maybe weeks following the surgery might be quite dramatic / traumatic for you. It's going to be the hardest thing you experience as you will be exhausted and terrified. But just know that he will recover, and God will take care of him. Focus on leaving the hospital with a healthy child. Mark made a full recovery. Levi will too. Your family is in my prayers.

    Kind Regards,
    Mary Trotta

  19. A childhood friend of mine sent me this on facebook after seeing the blog :
I have shared this request with my church and have asked them to pray and support financially if they can. My heart is so heavy for Kara and Levi.

As always, I am praying all day for you guys and know that the miracle is already happening...at this point we can thank God for it...it's an act of faith to thank Him. I am praying for the miracle and thanking him for it too! God is all over this situation!

When I was a little girl my mom had my sisters and I memorize this verse and it has served me well in times of trouble. Now it's one of my favorites.

    Psalms 91
He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler.

    You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.

Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked.

    Because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation;

There shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.

For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

You shall tread on the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shall you trample under feet.

Because he has set his love on me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name.

He shall call on me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

  21. "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies" Psalm 103:2-3
"The LORD will perfect [that which] concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, [endures] forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands." Psalm 138:8
Praying and standing on these promises of GOD for you.
2 Corinthians 1:20; "For all the promises of God in Him [are] Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us."
